Get to Myanmar

Generally, there are two ways to enter Myanmar: by air, by land.

1. By Air

Due to the fact that there are very few international flights into Myanmar, the best choice to get to Myanmar from other countries is flying to Bangkok, Singapore, Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Kuala Lumpur where have flights links to Yangon. Another way to get to Myanmar is via Kunming, Dehong and Bangkok where have flights to Mandalay.

2. By Land

There are four border crossings with Thailand: Ranong–Kawthaung; Three Pagodas Pass (Sangkhlaburi–Payathonzu); Mae Sot–Myawaddy; and Mae Sai–Tachileik. It’s possible to get a visa free entry, but extra paperwork and an enter fee around 10 dollars are needed.

Get Around in Myanmar

1. By Air

Due to the poor road condition, flying is the most comfortable way to transfer in Myanmar for tourists. But if you are trying to limit your travel money, the air travel is not recommended.

2. By Train

Most trains in Myanmar are starting from Yangon to the rest of the country, like Mandalay, Bagon and Inle Lake.

3. By Bus

In Myanmar, the bus routes and service are mostly owned by the government. But air-conditioned buses can also give you a more comfortable travel.

4. By Taxi

Taxi is the easiest way to get round within a city. But the taxis in Myanmar are not counted on meters, you need to bargain and settle on the fare before getting in.

5. By Boat

If you want to travel between riverside towns, boat is the best way to take. The popular routes are Bhamo - Mandalay and Mandalay - Bagan routes.
