Tour Overview:

The amazing 4-day small group tour of northern Laos that takes you around the area of Luang Prabang in style, this unique trip to the northern part of Laos gives you a chance to experience the natural and historical sites of the region.

Among the natural sites you will visit are the Pak Ou Caves, on the western edge of the Mekong River, as well as the Kuang Si Falls, a three-tiered waterfall with stunning natural pools. Roam around the ancient Buddhist temples that can be found in the city, from the magnificence of Wat Xiengthong to the shrine of Wat Aham and the beautiful Royal Palace Museum. Ideal for those with a limited time to spend in Laos, this trip takes you to the main highlights of the area around Luang Prabang.

Day 1 Welcome to Luang Prabang!

Flight: International flight on your own arrangement or upon request

Welcome to Laos! Upon arrival, our guide will greet you at the airport and escort you to Hotel for check in. then rest are at your leisure.

Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 2 Luang Prabang: Buddhist Ancient City and Temples

Your full day city tour begins after breakfast, with a visit to the Royal Palace Museum (closed on Tuesday), which hosts a range of interesting artifacts. See the city’s oldest temple of Wat Sene and the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground and representing classical Laotian architecture. Visit the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun and the shrine of Wat Aham.

In the afternoon, Visit the Arts and Ethnology Centre to learn about Laos’ many ethnic cultures before heading out of town to see the weaving villages of Ban Xiengkhong and Ban Xienglek. Later this afternoon return to the city for a visit to Wat Mai. Finally climb to the top of Mount Phousi to explore the sacred, gilded stupa and a sunset view of the city and the Mekong River. Finally visit the famous Night Market, where you’ll find handmade textiles made by local and hill tribe peoplesliving in the surroundings.

Day 3 Boat Trip to Pak Ou Caves / Khouang Si Waterfall

This morning, embark on a cruise upstream on the Mekong River. Along the way, stop at the village of Ban Xanghai, where Laos rice wine and rice whiskey is produced. . You'll be able to try some and learn about the process used to make it. Then on to the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, two linked caves filled with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by pilgrims.

Lunch will be served near the caves. You'll have the opportunity to try a local dish called "Orlam" which is a soup with vegetables and features a spicy wood that is partially edible. On return, disembark to visit the traditional weaving village of Ban Phanom, famous for its hand woven textiles.

Continue to explore the beautiful Khouang Si Waterfall where you can cool off with a refreshing swim in the pools or walk along the forest trails.

Day 4 Farewell from Luang Prabang!

Today transfer to the airport for your flight home.

At the moment, Indochina Tour will not use any budget airlines. Most seating is Economy Class unless otherwise stated. Business Class is available on request.
Tipping:

Tipping is not compulsory, but it is recommended to tip the guide and driver who go with you at the end of the trip. The amount is up to you. If you find he is good, friendly, helpful and you are satisfied with his performance, give him more. If you find his performance is bad, give him less, even nothing. But again it is recommended to give him some to encourage his job and like lucky money in the New Year. The tips may ranges from 5 – 10USD/ day for a guide and from 2 – 5USD/ day for driver.
