This 9 days Myanmar bicycle tour will take you to explore the fabulous ancient heritages in Mandalay, Sagaing, Amarapura, and Bagan.

In the formal capital of Mandalay and around, you can expect Shwenandaw Monastery, Bagaya Monastery, and beautiful U Bein Bridge that is the longest and oldest teakwood footbridge over the world. Drive to the airport for onward flight to Mandalay. Upon arrival, Your local guide and driver will pick you up and bring you to have a city excursion in Mandalay.
Visit Mahamuni Image where you can see local people pray and stick the gold paper on the Buddha for a blessing. You can also try to make your wish and donate money (buy) for the gold paper to stick the gold paper on the statue (only man allowed to stick the gold).
On the way to the Mahamuni Image, pay a visit to a gold paper factory to see how people made the gold leaf. Then visit the Shwenandaw Monastery which means "Golden Palace Monastery" and it was built in the 19th century and well known for its teak carving of Buddhist myths. Next, visit the Kuthodaw Pagoda which is a Buddhist stupa that contains the world's largest book of Buddhism.
Finish your day at the top of Mandalay Hill for a stunning sunset.

Mandalay to Sagaing and Amarapura

In the morning, drive about 30 minutes to get to Sagaing which is located by the Ayeyarwady River.
Cross the Innwa Bridge that is built by the British in 1934. Firstly you will visit the Maha Ganayon Kyaung Monastery to see hundreds of monks lining up for daily meals at 10:15 am. Then visit the U Bein Bridge which is 1.2 kilometers long and turns out to be the longest teakwood bridge in the world.
Continue to visit Kaung Mu Taw Pagoda, a dome-shaped pagoda rising up to 46 meters. At the base of the pagoda, there are 812 stone pillars, each one with a hollow and an image of a Nat in it. Followed by Sagaing Hill, with a number of small pagodas and meditation centers. Soon U Ponya Shin Pagoda also sits here. You can stop at a monastery and talk with monks while taking a cup of green tea.
Lunch at a local restaurant in Sagaing and take a short break. Then head to Amarapura, known as the City of Immortality, situates 11 km to the south of Mandalay. Here you will first pay a visit to Bagaya Monastery that is decorated with splendid Burmese architectural works such as carvings, floral arabesques, curved figurines and the reliefs of birds and animals. Then go to Nagayon Temple. The roof of the temple is draped by the naga Mucalinda, who protected the Buddha from the elements while achieving enlightenment.
Drive back to Mandalay and enjoy your free time.

Mandalay to Myingyan - Biking Start

Enjoy breakfast in the early morning and then begin today’s journey to Myittha and Myingyan. Cycle to the south along the 40 km highway, and you will first reach Kyaukse.
Then proceed to Myittha, a small peaceful town, where you can meet and experience life of the locals. After that, head to Myingyan, another rural village of Burma. Peek into their houses and have a chat with them.

Today, head for Mt. Popa, an extinct volcano with its golden shrines.
This solitary peak showcases the Popa Taungkalat shrine, the favored home of Myanmar's most powerful "Nats" (local spirits), statues of which can be found at its base. These spirits were once so important to the country's early Kings that it was essential for them to consult the Nats before commencing their reign.
The shrine is located at the top of the mountain, and if you have the energy, climb to the top (well worth the climb!). Along the way, there are a multitude of monkeys expecting a treat!

Today, you cycle to Bagan. In Bagan, you will be amazed by the thousands of Buddhist pagodas spread on the plain. These pagodas used to own by individual families during its prosperous time.
On the way, stop in the town of Kyaukpadaung for a visit to the Nyaung Oo Market where local people buying food in daily life. Then visit Shwezigon Pagoda which is the largest pagoda in Bagan painted with real gold.
Upon arrival in Bagan, have a rest at the hotel during the hottest time in the afternoon. Then you can climb up to the top of the Shwesandaw Pagoda for sunset. It will be an unforgettable memory of taking a bike to travel through the pagodas when it is quiet in the dusk.

After a short rest, start your Yangon city tour at the historic Post Office, followed by Strand Hotel, Mahabandoola Garden and Independence Monument. Next visit the famous Chaukhtatgyi Buddha Temple, home to a 66-meter long reclining Buddha, and shoot photos at the picturesque Karaweik Hall royal floating barge.
Then end today’s tour with an amazing sunset view at Shwedagon Pagoda, the largest pagoda with painted real gold in Yangon.

Our trip was amazing!
It was organised by IndoChina by Srevpov and Kea.
They are very helpful, took complete notice of our requirements and ensured all happened as expected.
I also must our guide Chan who was perfect. He knew everything, took our wishes into account and was always on time.
We started in Siem Reap and were taken care of our guide Chan and our driver.
Our hotel, The Aviary was lovely. Spacious and light and there was a swimming and a bar which served food as well.
Our first day we were taken to the Landmine Museum, which was as expected very sad albeit interesting.
We stopped for a lovely lunch and after the went to the Museum of Buddahs.
A very impressing museum with over 1,000 Buddahs on display.
A return to the Aviary for a dip in the bath before we went out on the town, to Pop Street.
Very popular, especially for the food and entertainment.
One our second day we went to Angkor Wat which was amazing and very, very impressive and interesting. Not one to miss!
One our last day there was festivities as it was the first day of New Years Day in Cambodia.
After that we were taken on a boot trip where we stopped for a drink before being taken to the airport to make for our next stop going to Laos. I would definitely recommend IndoChina to organise your trip and absolutely not miss out on a trip to Siem Reap and Cambodia or any of the bordering countries!


Having visited Vietnam last year, we engaged Srey for the second consecutive year, and our trust was well-placed.
