Where is Thailand on a Map
Located at the centre of the Indochina Peninsula, Thailand is bordered to the north by Myanmar and Laos, to the east by Laos and Cambodia, and to the south by the Malaysia. Thailand covers about 513,120 square kilometers of area, including 510,890 square kilometers of land and 2,230 square kilometers of water.

Thailand was founded as a nation in 1769. Recently, there are 76 provinces and two specially-governed districts. Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand, is the largest city in this country. Located at the delta of Chao Phraya River, Bangkok is the largest city in Thailand and the second largest city in Southeast Asia.
The northern Thailand mainly covers the mountainous area of the Thai highlands, including the Khorat Plateau. The famous Golden-Triangle area is partly in the northern Thailand.
The centre of Thailand is the flatland that formed by the Chao Phraya river, which runs into the Gulf of the Thailand.
The southern region of Thailand is located on the Malay Peninsula, consisting of the narrow Kra Isthmus.

Thailand is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Indochina for its stunning nature beauty, rich culture heritages, and mystery religions. Tourists can enjoy not only crystal blue beaches, but also thick jungles in Thailand. The historical culture and religious heritages, as well as the delicious Thailand food attract millions of travelers to come all year round.
Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, offers the rich historical and cultural heritages. The famous Wat Arun, which means “Temple of Dawn”, was built to honor Aruna. It is located in the Bangkok Yai district. In the bustling city of Bangkok, you can visit the Grand Palace, which consists of various kinds of pavilions, halls, wats, etc.Besides, you can also experience the authentic local life near Bangkok, such as the Damnoen Saduak floating market and Amphawa Floating Market.
In southern Thailand, the main attractions are the beaches. Ao Phra Nang, also named as Princess Bay, is the most popular beach town in Krabi on the west coast of southern Thailand. There is also a popular rock-climbing destination in Krabi province, named Railay or Rai Leh. Besides the beaches, there are also forest and jungles in southern Thailand. The Kao Sok National Park is the home to the largest expanse of virgin forest in Thailand. While visiting the national park, you will be amazed by the natural beauty of southern Thailand, such as the soaring waterfalls and crystal lakes.

And the famous island of Phuket is located at southeast of Thailand. The dramatic karst islands and stunning beaches of Phuket attracts many tourists to visit and relax. Nor too far from Phuket is the Ko Phi Phi Don of Krabi Province, which is another famous island in Thailand. Tourists will not only enjoy the beautiful beaches, but also experience kinds of exciting water recreation activities there.
In the northern Thailand, there are mainly culture heritages, such as the Prasat Hin Phimai. Similar to the Angkor in Cambodia, Prasat Hin Phimai are parts of the most impressive Khmer ruins in Thailand. It was built during the 11th and 12th century. Also, the Sukhothai Historical Park is in the northern Thailand. Consisting of the ruins of Sukhothai, this national park shows the culture of the Sukhothai Kingdom during the 13th and 14th centuries. From those temples and wats, you can explore the mysterious culture of this land. You can also explore a very ancient culture of Khmer kingdom between the 10th and 13th centuries in Phanom Rung, located near the village of Nang Rong in northeastern of Thailand. Recently, the northern Thailand is also the home to several ethnic minorities that known as the hill tribes. Among them, one of the most popular village is the Long Neck Karen village.
The eastern part of Thailand is the home of many wildlife, including Asian elephants and black bears. The Khao Yai National Park in the Nakhon Ratchasima Province is the third-largest national park in Thailand. In the national park, you could witness many wild animals living in their natural homeland.
Around the Gulf of Thailand, there are many beaches and islands. The Ang Thong National Park is one of the popular destinations in this area. Travelers can stay in bungalows and take in incredible views of the surrounding islands and blue oceans.
