Information about How to Plan a Vietnam Tour from the USA

1. Can I Travel to Vietnam from USA right now in 2023/2024?

Yes, travelers from the United States can travel to Vietnam in 2023/2024, as the rules on COVID that imposed restrictions have been lifted. The Vietnamese tourism industry is now back in full, and as long as you have a valid passport and have been vaccinated or have a negative test result, then you can visit Vietnam whenever you want.

2. How to Get to Vietnam from USA?

For tourists traveling from the United States, there are no direct flights to Vietnam from any American airport, so your trip will have to be indirect, with stops or connections along the way. The best way is to book a flight to another Asian country with connections into Vietnam.

Flights to Asian countries with connections depart from more than 30 airports across the United States, including Los Angeles, New York, Boston, Atlanta, Chicago, and Denver, as well as many more. Most of these connecting flights pass through Japan, China, Taiwan, or Hong Kong, and you can get the connecting flights into Vietnam’s main airports at Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and Nha Trang.

Fares for flights from the United States to Vietnam can vary greatly, depending on the airline used, the route taken, the departure location, etc. As the United States lies across four different time zones, the flights from the western seaboard airports are generally cheaper, and can cost from as little as US$ 545 from Honolulu, and US$ 813 from Los Angeles.

The further east you go across the United States, the more costly the flights become, with flights from New York costing around US$ 954, from Texas costing US$ 1,093, and from Miami or Wyoming costing around US$ 1,011.

It is advisable for travelers from the United States to shop around for the best flight costs, as budget flights can be found that can greatly reduce the cost of the trip, and separating the flight bookings can help with lessening the expense.

3. Do Americans need the Visa to Enter Vietnam?

Yes, American citizens do need a visa to enter Vietnam, and this can be obtained in a number of ways. The easiest is the E-Visa, which can be applied for online at https://www.immigration.gov.vn/ and https://www.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn and downloaded from your email once approved.

Alternatively, you can apply for the Vietnamese version of the Visa on Arrival, which is pre-approved and ordered online at https://vietnamvisa.govt.vn/apply-online/ and paid for before you travel, and you will get a Visa Approval Letter to show at immigration to have the visa stamped into your passport on arrival.

And if neither of those appeals to you, then you can still apply for the normal visa via the embassy, where you can send in your passport and application and have the visa issued within three working days, so that it is done before you travel.

4. What are the Must-see Tourist sites? And what are the classic tour packages?

Some of the most important aspects of a Vietnam tour are the attractions you visit, and there are some definite must-see destinations and attractions in Vietnam that you won’t want to miss.

Hanoi is one, especially the old quarter, with its French colonial architecture, and you shouldn’t miss a visit and boat trip around Halong Bay, with its amazing karst rock formations and islands.

Hue and Hoi An are also great places to visit for both culture and some of the best cuisine, and a trip to Ho Chi Minh City is the peak of any tour of Vietnam. And if you can, a trip along the Mekong River or around the Mekong Delta is worth doing.

5. How is the food like in Vietnam?

Vietnam has some of the most unique dishes in Asia, and while its cuisine is mildly influenced by the cuisines of neighboring China, Cambodia and Laos, the biggest influence was the French colonial period, and baguettes are still the most popular street food in the country.

A combination of many spices and the freshest ingredients, Vietnamese traditional cuisine is rich, tasty, and exotic, and combines all five of the fundamental tastes, sweet, salty, bitter, sour, and spicy.

For anyone trying Vietnamese cuisine for the first time, it is a must to give it a go. The flavors will leave you amazed.
