Maria and her family spent 15 days traveling through Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia on a private trip planned around the places they most wanted to experience.
Their route combined Sapa and Halong Bay in northern Vietnam with Luang Prabang, Angkor and the Mekong Delta, mixing well-known highlights with village walks, local life and hands-on experiences along the way.
This was an active trip for travelers who want to see several parts of Indochina within a two-week vacation. It included two overnight trains, regional flights and several full sightseeing days, so it suited Maria's family better than a slow-paced holiday. The route was carefully adjusted around their fixed travel dates and available flight connections, while still giving them meaningful time in each destination.

The final journey covered three countries in 15 days, from Hanoi in the north to Saigon in the south. Most sightseeing was private, with local guides and drivers meeting the family in each destination.
SIEM REAP · CAMBODIA
Angkor was the part of the journey Erica later singled out in her Tripadvisor review.
With their local guide, Mr. Vantha, the family spent a full day exploring Ta Prohm, Angkor Thom, Bayon and Angkor Wat — and afterward, Erica called it the best moment of their trip, describing the guided tour of Angkor Wat as “too majestic and surreal.”
LUANG PRABANG · LAOS
On their last full day in Luang Prabang, the family traded temples for a rice field. At Living Land Farm, they learned how rice is grown and tried the work themselves — feet in the mud, seedlings in hand.
It was the most hands-on moment of the trip, and one of the family’s own photos captures it perfectly.

A morning in the tunnels gave the family a very different view of Vietnam’s history.
