Overview

Travel through Cambodia and Laos in 14 days, starting in Phnom Penh and ending in Luang Prabang. The route mixes the major cultural sights with smaller cities, Mekong landscapes and the natural scenery of southern Laos.

Start with Cambodia’s recent history in Phnom Penh, then slow down in Battambang before exploring Angkor from Siem Reap. In Laos, continue through the Bolaven Plateau and the 4,000 Islands before visiting Vientiane and Luang Prabang.

This is a private and customizable tour. Local guides and drivers handle the sightseeing and transfers, while several lighter arrival and transfer days leave time to rest or explore on your own.

What Makes This Trip Different?

Instead of flying straight from Angkor to northern Laos, this itinerary spends three days in southern Laos. Vat Phou, the Bolaven Plateau and the 4,000 Islands add waterfalls, Mekong villages and open countryside, giving the second half of the trip a very different feel from the temple days in Cambodia.

DaNang/Hoi An and Hanoi summer week

Ivy was very prompt and clear throughout the booking process and itinerary planning . I like that they accommodated a very customized and packed itinerary and it was well organized so time was fully utilized/maximized . We got to see the top attractions that way for our limited time. The guides ( Le and Nghia) were both very accommodating. Mr Le made sure we got great photos. Nghia was very supportive of our family’s other needs. This agency is very commendable, Vietnamese cuisine was great but would just suggest a little more variety in the menu sets of the included meals. The tour package was definitely worth the price.

Incredible Tour Company for IndoChina and more. Ms Srey Pav exceeded expactaions.

Contacted the IndoChina Tour directly based upon the internet reviews and was put in touch with an amazing lady Srey Pov. She was very prompt, courteous and explained different options in details. Since this was a custom tour, the preferences given to her (such as veg. food etc) were easily accommodated.

I has to change itinerary a few times and there was prompt response each time. The options were clearly explained. Srey was very friendly and was available via WhatsApp chat as well as telephone call.

I am thoroughly impressed at the quality of service, pricing and options - including visiting places like Singapore and Bali. My highest recommendations and please ask for Ms. Srey Pav.

Amazing and LIFE CHANGING trip with Indochinatour.com!!!

My friend and I just returned from 18 Days for Delight of Indochina: Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand. It was AMAZING!! We opted to upgrade the tour to private, so it was only the two of us and a tour guide with private driver in each city. IndochinaTour.com was outstanding at every phase of the trip!

The planning and customization of the trip began with travel consultant, Elana and she was knowledgable, professional and thorough in working out all of the details. She even helped us by making recommendations on the logistics of our trip before the actual tour began. She was always quick to respond and was invaluable in the planning process!

Once booked, our Operation Team representative, Kea was also fantastic! She helped us with our travel visas, trip vouchers and the millions of questions that we had leading up to our trip. Kea was our point of contact while traveling abroad and answered every question we had in a professional, kind and prompt manner! The trip itself was absolutely LIFE CHANGING and IndochinaTour.com planned every single detail seamlessly.

The hotels (4 star) were incredible and included meals were absolutely scrumptious!! The included trip excursions were extraordinary and everything went off without a single hitch! The included private tour guides and drivers in every city were absolutely incredible and exuded knowledge and pride for their respective homelands.

We could have never executed this level of planning and logistics on our own, and are so appreciate for the amazing level of service that we were given by IndochinaTour.com. It is without question that I recommend IndochinaTour.com!! If you're on the fence about booking with them… JUST DO IT! An amazing travel experience awaits you!!

Important Trip Notes for This Tour

Is this trip suitable for first-time visitors to Cambodia and Laos?

Yes. It covers Phnom Penh, Angkor, Vientiane and Luang Prabang, then adds Battambang and southern Laos for a more varied two-country trip. It suits first-time visitors who want more than a short highlights route.

Is 14 days too busy for Cambodia and Laos?

The pace is moderate to active. Several days are full sightseeing days, while arrival and transfer days in Phnom Penh, Battambang, Siem Reap, Vientiane and Luang Prabang leave more time to rest. If you prefer a slower pace, the route can be extended by 2–3 days.

How much walking is involved?

Expect regular walking at temples, museums and waterfalls. Wat Banan has 365 steps, and some paths around Angkor, Pak Ou Caves and Kuang Si Waterfall can be uneven. The daily plan can be adjusted if you prefer less walking or fewer steps.

Do we need to wake up early during the trip?

The earliest planned start is for the Angkor Wat sunrise on Day 6, with departure at around 5:00 am. If sunrise is not important to you, we can remove it and begin the temple day later.

How do we travel between Cambodia and Laos?

The itinerary uses regional flights between Siem Reap and Pakse, Pakse and Vientiane, and Vientiane and Luang Prabang. Private vehicles are used for land transfers and sightseeing. Boat trips are included in Phnom Penh, the 4,000 Islands and Luang Prabang. Flight schedules will be reconfirmed for your travel dates.

How much free time is included?

There is free time after arrival in Phnom Penh and on several transfer days, including Battambang, Siem Reap, Vientiane and Luang Prabang. Your travel specialist can also shorten guided days if you want more independent time.

Can we change the itinerary to suit our interests?

Yes. This is a private and customizable tour. We can change the pace, hotel level, sightseeing and number of nights. We can also add more time in Angkor, southern Laos or Luang Prabang.

Are the regional flights included?

Yes. Flight tickets listed in the itinerary are included in the current tour inclusions. International flights are not included. Exact flight times and availability will be confirmed when your trip is planned.

Good to Know Before You Book

  • Angkor sunrise requires an early start at around 5:00 am.
