If you have just one day, you can visit the Cambodian border town of Bavet, but there’s not much to see. For a better experience, we suggest spending at least 2–3 days so you can explore Phnom Penh or even reach Siem Reap. A day is too short to feel the magic of Cambodia.

Depending on traffic and the time it takes to cross the border, the bus ride from Ho Chi Minh City to Phnom Penh typically takes six to seven hours. By overnight or connecting bus, it can take 12 to 14 hours to get to Siem Reap.

The majority of buses have air conditioning and meal stops. Some upscale buses even have cozy seats and Wi-Fi. No, there is currently no direct train from Ho Chi Minh City to Siem Reap. The countries are not yet connected by rail. You would need to travel by bus or fly instead.
