Myanmar Tour, 11 Days Myanmar Classic Trip

Day 1 Arrive to Mandalay

Flight: International flight on your own arrangement

Welcome to Myanmar! Upon arrival, our guide will greet you at the airport and escort you to Hotel for check in. then rest are at your leisure.

Overnight in Mandalay.

Day 2 Amarapura Ancient Capital

Meals: B / L 

Your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in Mandalay at 7:30-8am. From here, you will travel to Mingun. Mingun is home to the world’s largest uncracked ringing bell, the largest brick base Pathodawgyi Padoda and Myatheindan Pagoda with a distinctive architectural style modelled after the mythical Mount Meru (Myinmo taung). You will then continue to Sagaing (the ancient capital of Shan and Myanmar Kingdoms) and visit Sunn Oo Ponya Shin on the tranquil Sagaing Hill. Also drop by at a local silverware cottage industry if time allows. Enjoy lunch in at a local restaurant in Sagaing before leaving for Inwa (also known as Ava), a former royal capital of Myanmar Kingdom on the confluence of the Ayeyarwaddy River and Myitnge River.

After crossing the Myitnge River by a small ferry boat, we will take a horse cart to explore the ruins of the old royal capital including the watchtower, the 27m tall leaning tower of the old royal palace, Maha Aungmye Bonzan monastery (also known as Me Nu Oak Kyaung) built of brick in traditional style with elaborated stucco ornamentations that looks like carvings and the Bargaya monastery, a splendid teak wood monastery with wood curving. Your last destination today is the Amarapura. It was the royal capital of Myanmar twice, from 1783 to 1821 and 1842 to 1859, during the Konbaung era before finally being superseded by Mandalay. Heading to U Bein Bridge to explore the local way of life and enjoy the sunset before returning to your hotel.

Day 3 Half day Mandalay city tour- Transfer to Bagan

Meals: B / L 

After Breakfast you will visit Mahamuni Image where you will see local people pray and stick gold paper on the Buddha for blessing. You can also try to make your wish and donate money (buy) for gold paper to stick the gold paper on the statue (only man allowed to stick the gold). On the way to the Mahamuni Im age, you will visit a gold paper factory to see how people made the gold leaf. Visit the Shwenandaw Monastery which means ‘Golden Palace Monastery” and was built in 19th century and well known for its teak carving of Buddhist myths. then Visit  Mandalay Palace The scale of King Mindon’s ambition is obvious on first sight of the vast Mandalay Palace and its grounds. This walled citadel, surrounded by a large moat, is situated in the middle of the city, to the north of downtown; it certainly looks imposing from the outside, but unfortunately, along with much of Mandalay, it was devastated by bombing in the Second World War. Visit the Kuthodaw Pagoda which is a Buddhist stupa that contains the world’s largest book of Buddhism. After lunch you will continue along journey to Bagan (4hours).

Day 4 Valley of a Thousand Temples

Explore Bagan. See its thousands of Buddhist pagodas spread in the valley of the  Ancient City of Bagan. These pagodas were once owned by individual families during prosperous times. Visit the Nyaung Oo  Market where locals buy and sell produce. Continue on to the Shwezigon Pagoda , the largest pagoda in Bagan painted with real gold.

Then enjoy a Horse Cart Ride to the small village of Taung Phi for a view of a teak monastery Continue by horse cart around temples and winding roads as the sun makes its way to the sky's edge casting curious shadows from the temples across the plain. Continue to Shesandaw Pagoda. Watch one of the best sunsets in Southeast Asia before  riding back to your hotel.

Day 5 Morning Hot Air Balloon Ride, Full Day Mount Popa

Enjoy an exciting morning Hot Air Balloon Ride in Bagan.

Ordinarily an average of 45 mins of flight duration is expected. However, the entire experience will last about 2 1/2 hours. On landing, our fully trained Myanmar ground crew will pack the balloon whilst passengers enjoy a glass or two of celebratory champagne. 
Balloons over Bagan is a private Myanmar company that is committed to the preservation of Bagan and its environment. A contribution from each flight will be donated to community programmes that directly benefit the local population.

.....drifting over a panorama of a thousand ancient pagodas, silent in the shadow of low-slung mountains and against the banks of the mighty Irrawaddy river.

After the flying, back to hotel for breakfast. Then start your scenic drive to Mount Popa, an extinct volcano with its golden shrines. Situated 50 km southeast of Bagan, this solitary peak showcases the Popa Taungkalat shrine, the favored home of Myanmar’s most powerful “Nats” (local spirits), statues of which can be found at its base. These spirits were once so important to the country's early Kings that it was essential for them to consult the Nats before commencing their reign. The shrine is located at the top of the mountain , and if you have the energy, take off your shoes and socks to climb to the top (well worth the climb!) Along the way are a multitude of monkeys expecting treat!

 

Along the way, stop by a local village to learn about local culture and lifestyle. Then enjoy lunch at a hill resort.  On the way back visit a palm sugar workshop, where the harvested nectar from local trees is cooked into the sugar cubes we see in teashops today .

Day 6 Flight to Heho Inle lake – visit Htat Eian Cave

Flight: Domestic flight is on Indochina Tour's arrangement

Transfer to airport for onward flight to Heho where you will be picked up and transfer you to your hotel by the lakeside of Inle Lake.

Inle Lake locates in the highland of Myanmar in an altitude of around 3,000 feet above sea level.  Here you will enjoy different atmosphere and ambience from middle part of Myanmar.

Day 7 Full day Inle lake tour with Boat Ride

Meals: B / L

After your breakfast around 8 am and take a boat trip to Inle Lake (second largest lake in Myanmar). The Intha’s lives are centered on the lake - they live in stilted houses, grow produce such as tomatoes, melons, and papayas in a unique floating garden, and eat fish as a staple.

You will visit Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the most highly revered monastery in the Inle Lake area. Discover the traditional handicrafts silk weaving on wooden handlooms and a blacksmith shop.

Then, continue our boat ride to Nga Phe Chaung monastery, one of the oldest monasteries on the lake. The Buddha statues are more than 200 years old. On the lake, you can see traditional fishing methods by using the leg rowing technique. We proceed to the floating garden - Kyun-Hmyaw, which was built-up from strips of water hyacinth and mud, dredged from the lake bed, which breaks down into a rich humus; it take 50 years to produce a layer of 1m thick. Relax and enjoy spectacular sunset views over Inle Lake before returning to hotel.

Day 8 Flight to Nagpali

After breakfast you just enjoy your free morning and transfer to airport and flight o Nagpali, Upon arrival your driver will pick you up and check in at the hotel.

Day 9 Relax on Nagpali beach

Today you have a full day free time to relax on the beautiful Nagpali beach.

Day 10 Flight to Yangon Half Day Yangon city tour

Flight: Domestic flight is on Indochina Tour's arrangement

After breakfast you will transfer to Thandwe Airport and Flight to Yangon. Upon arrival our guide and driver will transfer you to check in.

Then, visit the downtown area to see the Old City Hall, and Maharbandoola Park. Then stroll along the old street ending at the old Strand Hotel. Next, drive to Botahtaung Pagoda which features golden decorations inside. Continue to Bogyoke Market which sells many Burmese traditional handicrafts including stone, wood and bronze carvings, and much more. Finish your day off at the riverside where the road flanked by colonize style builds which will give you the impression of Myanmar in old time.

Day 11 Farewell from Yangon

Today transfer to the airport for your flight home.
