FAQs about Planning A Cambodia Myanmar Tour

Is it safe to visit Myanmar and Cambodia now?

Cambodia is safe to visit, while Myanmar should be more careful.

Most of Cambodia is safe for travelers. Siem Reap is very safe for tourists. However, be careful in Phnom Penh. Watch your valuables, especially in crowded areas.

Right now, some places in Myanmar have political problems. In addition, due to the earthquake in the Mandalay region of Myanmar in 2025, the country is not safe for travel at the moment. But some areas like Yangon are still open for tourists. Keep updated on the latest news before going to Myanmar.

In both countries, we plan travel routes that avoid unsafe areas. We are always ready to help in case of any problems.

Can I visit Myanmar from Cambodia?

Yes, you can visit Myanmar from Cambodia by plane and overland. There are direct flights from Phnom Penh to Yangon, fast and comfortable. Traveling by land is not easy because you need to go to Thailand or Laos first and then head to Myanmar via the borders. Moreover, some border points may be closed suddenly, and the roads can be rough.

Contact us to know the latest policy before you plan your trip because Myanmar’s entry rules often vary. We can also help you get your visa and check what documents you need to ensure your cross-country trip is smooth and easy from start to finish.

When is the best time to visit Cambodia and Myanmar?

The best time to visit Cambodia and Myanmar together is November to February. During this time, the weather is cool and dry, which is perfect for sightseeing and outdoor activities. You can visit temples, walk around cities, or relax at the beach without too much heat or rain.

In Cambodia, you can explore Angkor Wat in comfort. In Myanmar, this is a good season to see Bagan and Inle Lake. It’s not too hot, and there’s less chance of rain.

From May to October, both countries have heavy rain. Roads can be muddy, and some outdoor activities may be hard to enjoy. March and April are very hot, so fewer tourists visit then. If you don’t mind the heat, it’s still a good time to see waterfalls or celebrate local festivals.

How many days in Cambodia and Myanmar?

Spending 10 to 12 days is recommended to enjoy both countries without rushing. It gives you enough time to see the top sights and relax too.

If you have less time, a 7-day trip is also possible. Spend 3 days in Cambodia and 4 in Myanmar. It’s short, but we can make it fun and meaningful. Want more adventure? Add a few days for trekking in the mountains of Myanmar or jungle tours in Cambodia.

We make flexible tour plans based on your time and travel style. Whether you want to move fast or take it slow, we can create the right trip for you. Just tell us what you like!

What to see on a Cambodia and Myanmar tour?

There’s so much to see in both countries! In Cambodia, you can visit Angkor Wat to see the sunrise—it’s one of the most famous places in the world. In Phnom Penh, check out the local markets, the Royal Palace, and the museums. If you like the beach, go to Sihanoukville or the nearby islands.

In Myanmar, the top places include Bagan with its thousands of temples, Inle Lake with its floating houses and gardens, and the big golden Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon.

But we don’t stop at just the famous places. We also show you secret spots. In Cambodia, you might visit Battambang, a charming town with art and quiet countryside. In Myanmar, Hsipaw is great for mountain views and village life.

Do I need a visa to visit Cambodia and Myanmar?

Yes, most travelers need a visa for both countries. Cambodia is easier—you can apply online for an e-visa or get one when you arrive at the airport or border. Myanmar needs more planning. You usually have to apply for an e-visa before you go or get one from an embassy.

It’s best to apply early, about one week before your trip. It usually takes 3 to 5 days to get approval. We help you fill out the forms and send reminders so you don’t forget.

Some nationalities can enter Cambodia and Myanmar without a visa for a short stay, but this depends on your passport. We’ll check the rules for you and let you know what you need. Myanmar’s visa rules can change often, but we keep track of every update.

Don't worry about paperwork—we’ll handle it. You can focus on packing your clothes and getting excited. We’ll take care of the boring stuff so your travel goes smoothly.

What is the currency used in Cambodia and Myanmar?

In Cambodia, the local money is called the Cambodian Riel (KHR), but U.S. dollars are used almost everywhere. You can pay in dollars in shops, restaurants, and hotels. In Myanmar, the currency is called Kyat (MMK), and it’s used more often than dollars.

It’s best to carry cash in both countries, especially when going to small towns or markets. Credit cards only work in big hotels and some stores in large cities. ATMs are not easy to find in some parts of Myanmar.

We recommend exchanging money at the airport or at banks with good exchange rates. Be careful when changing money on the street—some places may try to cheat you. Our guides will help you get a fair deal.

We can also prepare small cash kits for tips, market shopping, and daily use. With our help, you don’t have to worry about money during your trip.

Indochina Tours covers Indonesia too!

We went through Indochina Tours a couple years ago for a trip through Thailand, Laos and Cambodia and had a great time! So we had them organize a tour in Indonesia in Bali, Komodo national Park and Labuan Bajo with a boat trip to see the park and snorkeling. It was also a great trip!

They pay attention to detail and are concerned for our comfort and safety. Sreypov and Sreykea are so kind and easy to work with! Always willing to meet our needs and refine the itinerary to cover what we want to see. We truly appreciate them. We hope to go to Vietnam next year and will be using them for that trip, too. We highly recommend them!

Wonderful Journey through Vietnam and Cambodia during time of 50 year Reunification Celebration.

Maiky was extremely helpful throughout the process. We had ideas and she helped us to implement them, make recommendations and put together a very memorable trip. We felt safe every step of the way and had a driver and guide throughout, starting with our pick-up at the airport in Ho Chi Min City, through 4 in-country flights and back to the US 16 days later.

The guides were wonderful as well. Especially enjoyed John Tran, Pasquale, Luat and Luu Vu. Kea was also good at follow-up when needed. Angor Wat and the people of Cambodia were especially memorable as were Hoi An and the Mekong Delta. Thanks for a wonderful experience.

Charming organisation

Helen and Ivy were extremely patient, efficient and speedy with what was a very challenging ask for a busy tour of 3 countries in 24 days. how they managed to orchestrate private cars, taxis, ferry, internal flights and 11 hotels without any hiccups was quite extraordinary.

constantly charming, nothing to much trouble (but quite sure I drove them mad every time we changed our plans!). Personally I would like the two of them to come and organise our lives for ever! Thank you.

Amazing trip to Siem Reap organised by IndoChina.

Our trip was amazing!

It was organised by IndoChina by Srevpov and Kea.

They are very helpful, took complete notice of our requirements and ensured all happened as expected.

I also must our guide Chan who was perfect. He knew everything, took our wishes into account and was always on time.

We started in Siem Reap and were taken care of our guide Chan and our driver.

Our hotel, The Aviary was lovely. Spacious and light and there was a swimming and a bar which served food as well.

Our first day we were taken to the Landmine Museum, which was as expected very sad albeit interesting.

We stopped for a lovely lunch and after the went to the Museum of Buddahs.

A very impressing museum with over 1,000 Buddahs on display.

A return to the Aviary for a dip in the bath before we went out on the town, to Pop Street.

Very popular, especially for the food and entertainment.

One our second day we went to Angkor Wat which was amazing and very, very impressive and interesting. Not one to miss!

One our last day there was festivities as it was the first day of New Years Day in Cambodia.

After that we were taken on a boot trip where we stopped for a drink before being taken to the airport to make for our next stop going to Laos. I would definitely recommend IndoChina to organise your trip and absolutely not miss out on a trip to Siem Reap and Cambodia or any of the bordering countries!

Stellar tour company

We had such a truly amazing time in Cambodia and Thailand with the private tour Indochina Tours planned for us..we decided we needed to go to Vietnam next year with the help of Indochina tours.

Ivy Wu who worked with me endlessly to plan the itinerary and especially Helen Chhour, the in-country contact in Cambodia, were simply stellar in their customer service and knowledge of the country and so willing to make changes due to some last minute health issues of my husband, changing our tours to private when needed to accomodate his problems walking and securing better seating and kid glove service on our flights. Simply superb.

We loved the tour guides and drivers in Cambodia and Thailand (especially Chen Suon in Cambodia...he was wonderful and kind in dealing with Eric's issues, but also warm and friendly and knowledgable in so many ways).

Just stellar all round.

We have just returned from a wonderful trip to Vietnam and Cambodia. Indochina were excellent from start to finish. Sreypov was able to put together the perfect itinerary for us - responding and adapting very quickly during the planning stages.

Kea gave us great support in organising everything during the lead up to the trip. Our guides and drivers in Ho Chi Minh, the Mekong, Phnom Penh and Siem Reap were all excellent. We had the perfect balance of culture, history, beach time and great food.

Amazing experience in SE Asia

My granddaughter and I traveled to Siem Reep, Cambodia for 3 nights on a private tour. My agents were Ms. Maiky and Ms. Kea. Ms. Maiky recommended some great options and listened to what I wanted. Our hotel was wonderful, the Koulen Central Hotel and we had wonderful breakfasts there included. We witnessed the grandeur of sunrise at Angkor Wat, multiple temples there, a countryside jeep tour, traveled to Tonle Sap Lake and visited a floating village. We inadvertently witnessed a local funeral and two weddings. We received an amazing massage after a full tour day in the nicest spa I have ever been to. Incredibly tranquil and soothing. Our guide, Mr. Socheat, knew everything about the places we visited and answered all our questions. It was a very full itinerary and that is what I asked for.

We then traveled to Thailand for 7 nights. The first 3 nights were in Bangkok at the Amara Bangkok Hotel, very modern and efficient property, also with a full buffet breakfast included. Our guide there was Ms. Ketsara and she was wonderful; very down to earth, lighthearted, and flexible with our itinerary. She came up with things to do that weren't on the original itinerary that we really enjoyed. We took a private motorboat tour on the Chao Praya River and passed temples along the way. Our favorite visit was to the Grand Palace and riding by tuk-tuk to the famous Reclining Buddha. One morning we drove to the train market and the floating market, both highly recommended.

We then flew to Chiang Mai in northern Thailand which had a completely different vibe and some intense spiritual energy. Our hotel there was the Boddhi Serene Boutique Hotel, which, after Bangkok felt like it could use a fresh coat of paint and deep clean, but it was a beautiful, peaceful property. We were there when the 7.7 earthquake hit nearby in Myanmar. The hotel staff was calm and efficient. It was an intense experience and we're grateful we were there at the time instead of almost anywhere else. We spent our days walking into town and checking out the sites.

We then flew to Phuket and stayed at the Burasari Phuket Resort. I didn't schedule full days in either Chiang Mai or Phuket as we were eager for some down time. We did do a full day tour by speedboat to Phi Phi Island and other smaller islands in the area. We snorkeled and swam and it was pleasant but a little too touristy for me. My 20-year-old granddaughter would have loved another day in Phuket and Bangkok.

All our hotels were good and our guides were good. The agents I booked with responded efficiently to any questions I had. I recommend travel with Indo-China Tours. They know the area and respond well to all requests.

Great tour great memories!

I worked with Ivy at Indochina Tour to create a custom itinerary. I sent her the specific sights that I was particularly interested in and ones that I wanted to leave out and she curated that to a trip that we loved.

The guides and hotels were great. The one criticism I had with Indochina Tour is that after we booked the trip, the operations person that was responsible for the tour logistics would not respond to my emails and texts for a long time. This deficiency in communication was frustrating.

Private tour of South East Asia

Our recent 17-day private tour of Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia with Indochina Tours (February 16th - March 4th, 2025) exceeded all expectations! The planning process, starting in September 2024, was smooth and efficient thanks to our dedicated travel consultants, Amara and Kea. They were knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and always quick to respond.

We were consistently impressed by the high caliber of the local guides throughout our journey. Ket (Bangkok), Mia (Chiang Rai/Mai), Nemo (Hanoi/Halong Bay), Vu (Ho Chi Minh City), Paska (Siem Reap/Krati), and Reya (Phnom Penh) were all fantastic. A special mention goes to Paska in Siem Reap and Krati, whose deep knowledge and passion for Cambodian history and culture truly enhanced our experience. We wholeheartedly recommend Indochina Tours for anyone looking for a personalized and unforgettable trip through Southeast Asia.

Excellent custom tour of Laos and Cambodia

I booked with this company based on the reviews. Elena planned an excellent itinerary for our family, grandparents with two ten year olds. Her suggestions included activities that would be interesting for them as well as us. Communication was prompt and I appreciated that. Hotel choices were excellent although I did change one in Luang Prabang to Villa Maly and was very happy with my choice. One was not great but maybe was the best the area had to offer.

The drivers were all good and vans were clean and modern. One driver in Siem reap, Mr Tan, was especially outstanding. The guides were good , with two, our guides in Pakse and SiemReap being especially excellent.

In addition to the wonderful temples and other activities popular in Siem Reap, I suggest that you try lunch with a local. This experience with Dany in her home, gathering produce and herbs from the garden, preparing the food, cooking it and best of all eating it was a highlight of the day!

There were a few issues. Communication with the tour operation could have been better. I did not get final information until the day before I left. There was no guide booked for our last day in Phonom Penh and one was hastily booked.

The bigger issue was that I had asked specifically for a particular company for one event on many occasions but my request was not fulfilled. I would suggest that if there is something that you particularly want, you should book it yourself and inform the company to add it to your itinerary. That way you won’t be disappointed.

Overall, I think the trip was fantastic, great value and well thought out. I think we couldn’t have had a more varied three week tour of Laos and Cambodia.

Fantastic week in Cambodia

Hello Sreypov and Kea,

We want to thank you very much for organizing a beautiful vacation in Cambodia for our group in March 2025.

Your attention to details made the difference, and we were able to discover and embrace the people, food, and culture of Cambodia. The itinerary was very well designed, the accommodations excellent and so were the chosen restaurants.

As per our guides and drivers, we were extremely impressed by the professionalism of Chan and Tan in Siem Reap. They made our days memorable. They worked excellent together. Tan is a very good driver and pays attention to all details. Chan’s professionalism, knowledge, control of the English language and attitude made the whole trip memorable.

Thank you very much for choosing them to show us the beauty and history of your country.

Sreypov and Kea, the 2 of you have organized an amazing trip for us, and we will suggest your services to any of our friends if they visit Cambodia.

Personally, we will probably schedule a Vietnam and Thailand trip in the next few years, and will reach out to you when we decide.

Amazing cambodian trip

Our Cambodian trip was absolutely amazing. Our day at Angkor Wat started at 5am to make the sunrise at 6.30am. Our guide arranged for us to get a packed breakfast from the hotel so that we could quickly move from the sunrise to exploring the temple complex before the crowds. This was an advantage of booking a personal tour rather than a group tour( who would need to return to their hotels after sunrise for their breakfast before starting to explore the complex). Mr Nob Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and guided us through all the highlights efficiently and almost always seemed to find us quiet moments to explore each of the important areas. This obviously got more tricky as the day got busier. The Angkor Wat trip was followed by a relaxing massage back in Siem Reap (Mudita Spa).

Tours by Jeeps provided us with an excellent exploration of the countryside around Siem Reap the following morning. It was very exciting to be touring around in a vintage ex military american Jeep. The afternoon was back with Mr Nob to explore the floating village.

Siem Reap is a beautiful city and it would have been nice to have an extra day to explore some more.

Next day was a drive to Phnom Penh. Quite a long drive broken by exploring some of the country's older temples.

Phnom Penh is an impressive city and provides the base for exploring the killing fields and the even more harrowing S21 torture centre. Fortunately Phnom Penh offers a much lighter side with tours of the temples and royal palace.

Our final trip from Phnom Penh was the fast boat down the Mekong to Can Tho.

Thanks to Ivy and Kea at IndoChina Tours for organising our fabulous trip.

Absolutely Amazing!!

Our trip was amazing!! Everything including hotels, food, guides, and transportation were as described on the website. Bliss did a great job a customizing one of their standard tours to meet our exact needs. We could not have asked for anything more. Give them a try - you won't regret it.

First time with Indochina Tours. Would use again

Great trip! Guides and drivers were fantastic. Because it was a private tour, we set the time and agenda. No waiting for people from the tour. No getting up to be on the bus at 8am. We combined this trip with a 7 day trip to Laos, then customized it to what we wanted to see and do.

My friend and I are older, so neither of us wanted anything too difficult or rushed. The only hiccup that occurred was when we got to one hotel in Laos, and they didn't have our reservation. We called our contact in Cambodia after hours, who stopped what she was doing and took care of the situation. She was fantastic.

Indochina Tours did send the booking to this hotel per the itinerary, but the hotel never confirmed the booking, then had no vacancies when we arrived. She had to book us at a different hotel. Then had a car come get us and we were at the new hotel within the hour. Amazing trip, and i would use this tour company again for future travels to S.E. Asia.

10 Days for Best of Thailand, Cambodia & Vietnam

Having never been to this part of the world, I found Indochina Tours online. The trip planning was easy and seamless with the help of Bliss and Kea as tour planners. They customized this trip for our family of 3 adults and included everything we asked for and more.

Bliss and Kea kept us updated as to travel documents, itinerary and payments. The pay system was secure. We were met at each airport with highly identifiable signs. Local tour guides were fluent in English, friendly and accomodating.

Tour vehicles were clean, comfortable with excellent, safe drivers. Local guides adjusted daily to meet our needs resulting in a wonderful travel experience. We selected 4 star hotels and those provided were above our expectations. Hotel staffs were friendly, met all our expectations and assisted with local transportation and suggestions on our time off of the tour schedule. The food provided by out tour plan was exceptional.

Our highlights of the tour included Siem Reap, The Train Street of Hanoi, Hanoi Bay cruise and local markets and beautiful temples. Be sure your visas have the exact names as they are listed on your passport, birthdays listed with Day, Month, Year, and travel dates covering your time in the countries. If not, you will not be allowed to enter the airport and you are on your own. We would highly recommend Indochina Tour for an unforgetable travel experience.

Amazing custom tour through 3 countries!

Indochina Tour customized a 19 day tour for us for Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand and it was simply amazing. They arranged every step of the way (accommodation, tour guides and drivers, flights) for each city visited and all was excellent. In the tour office, Helen was so helpful and connected with us before the trip to confirm all details, and checked in during the trip to see how we were doing. Highly recommend!

A first rate experience put together by a first rate company!

Bliss and Helen put together and managed a great tour for us. We wanted to do some biking, so we had 5 days with some biking in our trip. We had consistently great scheduling and results for pick up and drop off whether it was for day tours or at airports.

All of our guides were very good to outstanding. Bliss did a great job of planning an itinerary that was interesting and fully met our needs. Helen was outstanding at responding to the few questions we had along the way. Her responses were always timely and thorough. We spent 13 days in Vietnam, 4 in Cambodia, 4 in Loos, and 8 in Thailand. We wouldn't change anything about how the trip unfolded.

The costs were very reasonable, especially given that many of the tours and all of the airport transfers were just the two of us. Our accommodations were consistently very good and always included great breakfasts with local and international cuisine options. I can happily highly recommend this great tour company.

Indochina tours - Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar

Indochina tours were excellent, my wife and I started in Bangkok, visited Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar, returning to Bangkok, 17 days in all.

There were 9 flights, a train trip, 7 sets of guides and drivers, 8 pick ups from airports or train stations, 4 countries, 3 visas and not a single delay or hitch.

All the guides English was excellent, and the local knowledge fantastic , all this was underpinned by Indochina head office with Sreypov and Kea masterminding the whole trip.

I am an experienced traveller (I have visited 126 countries) and the organisation of this trip is the best that I have ever experienced. Derek & Clare Chapman UK
